A brief recap! The government has decreed that English shire and district councils are to be combined. Councillor Dan Levy outlined the three options for Oxfordshire back in March.
The County Council argues for a combined single-unitary model, while the City proposes three - expanding its boundaries over the Green Belt to make it viable.

The districts now propose two new unitary councils, with working titles as follows:
-
Oxford and Shires including Cherwell, Oxford City and West Oxfordshire

-
Ridgeway including South Oxfordshire, Vale of White Horse and West Berkshire.

Consultation opened on 4 June and closes on 16 July.
-
Drop-in events are being held around the area; the nearest is in Witney on Thursday 10 July.
-
Online Consultation is already available (hosted rather confusingly by South Oxfordshire and Vale).
