What a great day of croquet, burgers and bubbly for members of Eynsham Croquet Club. 12 members battled it out in 3 groups - all play all to detrmine who goes through to the knockout stage. Mike, Tessa and Paul won all 3 games and Chris was the best runner up. Chris and Paul had a marathon game with much deliberation before every shot; Chris ran out the winner at the golden hoop.
Mike Nightingale, Chris Ogden and Tessa Ford - all locals from Eynsham in the final.
Mike and Chris then battled it out in the final with Mike running out with a very deserved win and another new winner of the Brian Hitchins Trophy.
Among the presentations was Valerie's surprise announcement of the award of a Croquet England Diploma to Roger for his contribution to the club. Croquet England Diplomas recognise members who have given outstanding service to croquet and their club over a long period. The Diplomas have nothing to do with croquet prowess and everything to do with the help given to other members.
Burgers and bubbly followed with many supporters joining in the celebrations. Thanks to Jill for immaculate organisation and planning and for arranging the very very pleasant weather!
