Plant-based Food Competition 23 Oct 2023 We held our first ever “wholesome plant-based food competition” in Eynsham last Saturday 14 Oct 2023 at the Peace Oak Orchard

What an amazing turn out! A wide range of dishes entered the competition, more than we have anticipated (including focaccia, salad, stew, risotto, relish, tart and more). Often there is a misconception that plant-based food is boring and uninspiring. But the dishes entered have absolutely proven that to be wrong!

Our wonderful judges clearly had no easy task in deciding the winners from the choices of top-notch dishes. Lucy from the beloved Cherry Tree Café and Market Garden was the first to taste the dishes. Ian from Peace Oak Association and Nigel from our own GreenTEA also soon dived in. Sandy, who used to run the wonderful Cornucopia restaurant, carefully wrote down the scores.  Not knowing who cooked which dish, judges truly made the fairest decisions!

The first prize was presented to Sarah Couch for the mouth-watering Autumn Salsa. The second prize went to Lucy Dickinson for the artistically beautiful Meadow Celebration Focaccia. And the third prize went to Helena Nielsen for the heart-warming West African Peanut Stew. Well done to the winners and everyone who participated! The recipes (along with others from previous events) are available on the food page of our website).

All the dishes were then available for public tasting. The level of interests and engagement were truly inspiring! It was wonderful to see children as well as grownups enjoying plant-based dishes. There wasn't one dish left at the end!

Our sincere thanks to everyone who supported this event! We hope that you too had fun in the process.
