Summer Update 5 Jun 2020 Planning towards safe re-opening - and the Summer Reading Challenge has arrived

Planning towards safe re-opening of libraries has continued and we are optimistic that if measures to ease lockdown progress as planned then this will happen in July. It is likely that larger branches (including Witney) will open first, with smaller sites such as Eynsham following a couple of weeks later. As with any service that is re-opening after lockdown, there will be changes to the way we operate with hygiene and social distancing measures put in place before we open again. There will be ongoing advance publicity on the County libraries website and we will also update you here.

In the meantime, all e-resources remain available to library members and this is a chance to let you know of an exciting new addition to these, namely the Ancestry web service which is now available free of charge by logging in to your library account.

We also wanted to let you know what is happening with one of the highlights of the library calendar, the Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge. This has moved to an online home at summerreadingchallenge.org.uk.

The theme for this year is ‘Silly Squad’ with an emphasis on reading for fun, and choosing books that make you laugh. There is lots more information on the Reading Agency website and facebook page.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes from the Library team (Jane, Pam, Zoe, Carole and Jan).
