Long Mead Picnic - Wildflower Pot on! 1 Jul 2023 Come and picnic in Long Mead Meadow and help pot on this year's wildflowers: 9 July 2-5pm

Come for a guided walk and picnic in Long Mead's ancient floodplain meadow at the height of it's summer glory and help us pot on the wildflowers that NRN's Plant Propagation Group have been nurturing for Eynsham's community meadows and other local meadows. 

Programme

2.00pm - 2.40pm Introduction to and walk through Long Mead's extraordinary 1000-year-old floodplain hay meadow. We will talk about the unique role is still plays in 21st century food production, water purification, carbon storage and flood mitigation and our strategies for saving this habitat on the verge of extinction through the Thames Valley Wildflower Meadow Restoration Project (TVWMRP). 

2.40pm to 4.40pm Learn about individual flower species as you sow and pot on flowers for planting out in Eynsham Playing Fields, Dovehouse Meadow, Fishponds, St Leonard's Churchyard and Peace Oak meadows as well as the larger local meadows, including the Neyotts Meadow by Eynsham Lock, which TVWMRP is about to start restoring for Oxfordshire County Council. 

4.40pm to... Picnic tea (bring your own).
