Following NRN Plant Propagation Group’s successful trialling of our own wood chip seed compost, we have persuaded Lucille Savin, head gardener of Merton College (the first woman head gardener of an Oxford College) to let us into the secrets of the homemade compost and rooting compound that she has been making for Merton College gardens.
Lucille Savin is the inspirational head gardener of Merton College who initiated the restoration of two meadows on the Cherwell River, belonging to Merton College. NRN's Plant Propagation Group and Long Mead Carefarming have recently planted out 500 plants raised over the last year.
Lucille will be leading a compost-making workshop at Long Mead Barn on 14th January. If you would like to attend, please register on the NRN Website.
