About

GreenTEA (Green Transition Eynsham Area) is about helping people to make the transition to a more sustainable lifestyle, one which is independent of fossil fuels. The emphasis is on grassroots action and building a more resilient community, enabling us to live within the planet’s resources. We can offer advice and support on lowering your carbon footprint through five working groups which focus on the areas outlined in the tabs above. We work with residents across the Eynsham, Aston, Cassington, Farmoor, Freeland, Long Hanborough, Standlake, and Stanton Harcourt areas. For more information on the Transition movement, please scroll down. GreenTEA is an Oxfordshire Community Action Group (CAG) and is also registered as a part of the Friends of the Earth local action group network.

We send out a monthly e-newsletter, The Brew, which includes details on local events as well as national and international news relating to sustainability and the environment. Please sign up here to receive a copy, our updated Privacy Policy is also available below.

What actions can I take locally?

Eco Homes:

  • Phase out fossile fuel - switch to renewable energy sources, and make eco improvements at home (such as heat pump, solar panels)
  • Take part in the Energy Saving homes event (19-20 Sept 2026) in Eynsham by opening your home or visiting others, to support peer-to-peer learning
  • Register your interests for Housewarming Workshops planned for 2027

Sustainable Food:

  • Retreat from meat – eat more plant-based food (delicious recipes on GreenTEA food page)
  • Grow food in your garden or allotment - explore Food Forest Garden approach
  • Support local growers and eat seasonal produce as much as possible

Low-carbon Transport:

• Walk, cycle, take public transport, or choose carsharing options
  • Support First and Last Mile community bus (new route available)
  • Drive electric cars – 22kW charging available at the village car park

Reduce Waste:

  • Consume responsibly - buy what we need, not what we want
  • Reuse and up cycle - give or find useful items at Eynsham’s Swap Shops
  • Fixing broken items at the Eynsham Repair Café so they can be used for longer

Green TEA is part of the Transition Initiative, a grassroots movement to help everyone in the community to cope with the transition from a global, fossil-fuel based, polluting and vulnerable economy, to a more sustainable lifestyle based on clean, renewable energy and local produce.

This recent video from Jeremy Leggett (provided by Solarplaza) is a fascinating account of the current global energy transition as presented at a recent conference. The talk focuses on

• Driving Forces: fast trends in clean and smart energy technologies
• Amplification of policymakers, corporations and communities in multiple countries to the above
• Rise of artificial intelligence and robotics
• Challenge that solar companies and their investors are facing to keep up with these crucial developments
