What It Is

Eynsham Repair Café is a community pop-up event, where people who like to fix things meet people with things to repair.

We want to help people to use things for longer, thus saving money and reducing waste. With tea and cake :-)

Why come?

Have you got something which needs some TLC, or is broken and you haven’t had the time or skills to fix it yourself? A button that needs replacing; a toaster that doesn’t work; a favourite vase that needs gluing for example?

Well, don’t throw it away, bring it to a Repair Café and our volunteers will have go at fixing it! We aim to hold events in Eynsham every 2 months.

Our events have a great buzz. On average we are able to fix about 50-60% of items brought in and give advice on 20%. Only a minority can't be repaired!

Who are the volunteers?

Repair Café volunteers are local people who like fixing and getting the most out of things. They are not necessarily professionals, but people who are are willing to get stuck in. We enjoy fixing and repair, not only to keep our repair skills and knowledge alive but also to help others, and keep things out of landfill.

What’s the catch?

None! We are volunteers wanting to help each other. This means that we cannot guarantee to fix something but we will certainly try and help you out.

We don’t charge for repairs but do ask if you can make a small donation to help us cover the costs of putting on the event.

Events Diary

Thank you all!

Thanks everybody who made the last Repair Cafe possible!

72 items were brought to the event, and our amazing team of volunteers was able to fix 41 of them, and give advice for 9 more. What a buzzing event! The team covered sharpening, sticking, sewing, jewelry fixing, electrical & mechanical repairs, bike fixing, and wood fixes too!

Next Repair Cafés

Our next Repair Cafés will be on March 9 2024 at the Scout Hall, from 2 to 4pm, and on May 11 2024.

On March 9, we will cover jewelry fixes, sewing, small electrical repairs, small wood fixes and tool sharpening. We will focus on ONE item per person. Should time allow, extra items may be considered for examination and repair. Drinks and cakes are available while you wait :)

Our amazing team of volunteers usually cover sewing, (creative) darning, small electrical repairs and tool sharpening, and also regularly offer bike repairs, jewelry fixes and wood fixes. Watch this space for the list of repairs offered by our amazing team of volunteers closer to May 11!

Do not hesitate to reach out if you are interested in volunteering or if you have any questions.
