1994
Eynsham and Barnard Gate VILLAGE APPRAISAL; supported by EPC. The transport section (781 responses) on pages 6-7 covers ‘Cars etc’, buses and on street parking. 89% thought parking hazardous.
2001
August: Eynsham VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT; The Eynsham Society. The traffic section on pages 13-14, quoted here in full, notes ‘hazardous parking, though the congestion this creates does at least reduce vehicle speeds’.
2005
October: Mill Street ZEBRA CROSSING - consultation and installation. EPC to contribute £5000 towards the project
2007
September: Eynsham PARISH PLAN. 730 people responded to the Roads, traffic & Transport survey. Vehicle length / weight restriction attracted 417 ‘votes’ with one-way traffic second (232) and speed restriction third.
2008
October: first ‘ACCESS MAP’ for visitors to the village (last revised in 2012).
2010
May: independent review of SIGNPOSTING for drivers of private cars or transit vehicles, presented to EPC communications committee.
August: independent report on FOOTWAYS / pavements, especially for the mobility-impaired. Dropped kerbs, bodged repairs and thoughtlessness crop up repeatedly.
November: official statement on the problems created by PAVEMENT PARKING, the role of enforcement agencies and the associated penalties.
2011
April: illustrated overview of CYCLING as a lifestyle choice.
May: CYCLE PARKING audit suggests new areas for installations and sites for upgrading.
2013
January: note on roads and signs for GreenTEA suggests 20mph SPEED LIMIT on Oxford and Cassington Roads.
April: GREEN TRAVEL MAP of cycle, pedestrian and public transport routes (WODC; last revised in 2013); update on cycle stands; we have an interactive map.
2014
October: action on HIGHWAY DEFECTS relies on public feedback - report them direct at Fix My Street.
2015
January: Witney Road ZEBRA CROSSING (proposed February 2014) - consultation begins. EPC finally agreed a contribution of £3,000 in June 2016 to supplement funds from Bartholomew School and (mainly) Section 106.
August: Eynsham NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN - initial community engagement findings. Key issues identified under transport and infrastructure are congestion, car parking and cycling/pedestrian facilities.
October: EPC opts for 20mph SPEED LIMITS, proposing them online and in Eynsham News. ‘A 20mph zone is a big decision and won’t be implemented unless there is clear support in the village.’
November: first 20mph consultation report. Just 29 individuals and 2 business owners responded.
2016
July: PUBLIC TRANSPORT Bus Route 18 Oxford - Eynsham - Stanton Harcourt - Standlake - Bampton (hourly, Mon-Sat) discontinued. ‘… income from fare paying passengers is too low to meet running costs.’
November: WODC PARKING Strategy. The action plan on pages 108-9 notes concerns about lack of enforcement relat[ing] to on-street parking and identifies a work programme for Back Lane Car Park (page 125).
