The total collected so far for the poppy appeal is £3497.76. There is money still to come for wreaths.
This year is the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 and various things will be happening to mark the occasion. Craft folks in the village are asked to knit, crochet, sew poppies which will be used in decorating the square for 2 weeks in November. The ladies of the WI are collecting them.
Remembrance Day falls on a Sunday this year and it is hoped to re-create the candle snuffing ceremony in the evening, which was held in 2014, marking the beginning of the war.
Other ideas to celebrate this anniversary are welcome. Please use the contact links for the Legion or the Wi or the Parish Council.
