Armistice Day, 11 November
This year falls on a Friday.
As in previous years The Eynsham Branch of The Royal British Legion (RBL) will be holding "Silence in the Square" to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy today.
This Remembrance Ceremony comprises:
- Greeting;
- Reading Eynsham's Role of Honour
- The Exhortation;
- 2 minutes Silence observed at 1100 hrs / 11 am;
- reciting The Kohima Epitaph;
- Dismissal Blessing.
This ceremony commemorates the Armistice (cease fire) at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, which signalled the end of The Great War / World War 1. Those who fell in this and all subsequent wars are Remembered.
Please gather in front of The War Memorial at 1050 hrs / 10:50 am.
Please wear suitable clothing as it is November...
