Silence in the Square, Armistice Day, Fri 11 November
The Act of Remembrance, Remembrance Day, Sun 13 November
There was a good turnout on both days, which were both treated in an appropriately solemn manner.
A heartfelt thank you to all villagers who attended to pay their respects to The Fallen, particularly the little ones; and to those who have recently arrived in this country.
Thanks to village clergy who attended and led us in prayers for The Fallen.
Thanks to those organisations that laid wreaths on The War Memorial, remembering The Fallen.
Thanks to those who decorated the square prior to Remembrance. This shows all who pass by that Eynsham remembers its Fallen.
Thanks to all those who donated to the Poppy Appeal this year and wore a poppy in remembrnce of The Fallen, and in appreciation of our Armed Forces.
The Eynsham Rolls of Honour of The Fallen for the two World Wars were read at both ceremonies.
The Fallen were remembered from all wars and conflicts involving Britain, its previous Empire and its current Commonweath.
The Fallen made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the democracy, freedoms and way of life we now enjoy in this green and pleasant land. They deserve to be remembered by all who now live in this country.
EYNSHAM WILL REMEMBER THEM
We were blessed with unusually mild weather for this time of year. Anticipating the usual November weather, I for one wore a full set of thermals!
Some of you may have been seen on BBC local news on 11 November as we were recorded by Radio Oxford.
Eynsham Branch of The Royal British Legion
The RBL is the national custodians of Remembrance.
These events were as usual arranged and conducted by Brigadier Mike Stephens and Mrs Eve Hollis. Thanks from all of us for their efforts.
Thanks to all members of Eynsham Branch who participated, particularly our Honourary Padre, The Rev John Underwood.
FOR FAMILIES OF THE FALLEN AND VETERANS, REMEMBRANCE IS PERPETUAL
PLEASE WEAR A POPPY ALL YEAR ROUND TO REMEMBER THE FALLEN, AND SHOW APPRECIATION FOR OUR SERVING ARMED FORCES
