On Thursday evening December 17 over 30 carol-singers from the three Eynsham Churches visited the new Thornbury Estate off Witney Road. The music was led by the vicar of St Leonard’s, the Rev Duncan Fraser with his latest musical instrument - a Melodica with Larry Poole from the Baptist Church on Guitar. St Peter’s Roman Catholic church was also well represented along with members from the Eynsham Community Choir.
The carollers walked ‘socially distanced’ round the estate and stopped to sing at various junctions. Children appeared at windows, windows on first and second floors were opened, and parents and smaller children opened their front doors to see the fun. “Away in a Manger” was sung as a special number for them.
Thankfully the rain held off, for the most part. After an hour the whole estate had been visited with carols, and with a Christmas card of welcome to Eynsham from the three churches.
