St Leonard's Church News

Pop-up choir sings carols at Red Lion 24 Dec 2018 A St Leonard's choir sings carols at Red Lion. Landlord dedicates the evening to the memory of staff member Thomas Early.

A pop-up choir from St Leonard’s Church Eynsham was invited by the landlord of the pub next door to the church, the Red Lion to come and sing Christmas carols on Friday 21 December for the diners and drinkers. 20 singers conducted by the vicar, Rev Duncan Fraser, a former professional choir director, sang well loved carols with harmonies and descants. A growing dinner party in the pub began to respond in kind with popular Christmas songs such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Eventually they joined in the carols such as Silent Night, and all ended singing We wish you a Merry Christmas together.

The landlord, Tommy Higgs, said: “Thank you to everyone in 2018 for accepting the new Red Lion. We wish everyone an amazing Christmas and a Happy New Year. I would like to dedicate this evening to the memory of Thomas Early who tragically died (in a cycling accident in Eynsham on November 20, Oxford Mail November 30) three weeks ago and was a member of our staff. I hope everyone lives for today and over the Christmas period, appreciates their family and loved ones and celebrates the season.”
