After major restoration work on St Leonard's Church in the 1980s, Charles Caine, who had chaired the Appeal Committee, proposed that a permanent charity (reg. no. 800164) be set up. The object was to assist the Parochial Church Council to maintain the fabric of the church on a regular basis - and avoid the cost of major restorations falling on, as it seems, each second generation.
Whether you are a churchgoer of any persuasion or not, can you imagine the village without St Leonard's standing four-square at its centre? If you feel you can support this entirely secular initiative, please contact the Hon Treasurer, Jennifer Clarke.
