Footpath Diversion 15 Dec 2020 An update on footpath diversion in Eynsham

Polar Technology Group is one of Eynsham’s success stories and was founded 7 years ago by Scott Roberts and Mike Dewhirst, two engineering entrepreneurs who have worked in Oxfordshire for over 25 years.

Now employing over 200 skilled people, many of whom are local or live nearby, Polar has grown to be a world class, integrated engineering group, focussing on the design, development, & manufacture of high value-added products and systems for customers in the medical, aerospace, motorsport and clean energy technology market sectors.

Sitting alongside their future plans to continue growing, comes the need to expand.  Many people will be familiar with the new impressive factory that can be seen from the B4449.  To complement this, further expansion of the Group is planned in the field to the north of the site which borders the Chilbrook.  Although it will be several years before any further building construction would take place, Polar has been granted a Diversion Order which will take the existing footpath running through the back of the current factory site, onto a more pleasant route through the north field and back onto the old railway line heading West.

Ground works will be starting soon to divert the current path which will create a new and improved walking experience away from the current route.  This new approved route will rejoin the old railway line as shown on the map below (follow the dashed line from point A – E).

As the field will now become a construction site for the footpath diversion until the works are complete, please use the existing designated footpath (solid line A – E) and refrain from pushing past the fencing which is temporarily blocking access to the site.

Once complete, access to the new route will be opened to the public and a much more pleasant walk will be available.  Your co-operation during the next few months is gratefully appreciated by Polar and the local works team.
