The British Legion was founded on 15 May 1921 consisting of ex-servicemen returned from The Great War of 1914-18.
The Royal charter was graciously approved by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1971 on the 50th Anniversary.
The Royal British Legion celebrated its Centenary in 2021.

Eynsham Branch of "The Legion" was formed on 18 October 1923, it will reach the milestone of being 100 years old on 18 October 2023..
Over the years the Branch has helped many ex-service personnel and their families in the area, as well as raising thousands of pounds for the annual Poppy Appeal.
Eynsham Branch continues the traditions of Remembrance each year with "Silence in the Square" on Armistice Day, 11 November, and also observes the national Remembrance Day,.
