Eynsham Cricket Club now has a thriving women's section, the team first got together in late 2017 and since then have gone from strength to strength.
At the beginning of September last year we hosted our third Women's Softball Festival with great success. The weather favoured us in 2018, 2019 and 2021 (2020 was missed because of the cursed Covid) and all teams involved enjoyed the friendly cricket matches. We hope for similar weather, and success, in 2022. Pictures of the 2019 festival can be seen here, and the 2021 festival here.
The ladies practise indoors through the winter months on a Friday evening from 6-7pm at Bartholomew Sports Centre. In the summer months we practise on a Friday evening from 6-7:30pm at the cricket ground after which you can relax with a glass of wine and make use of the club BBQ, a great way to start the weekend.
For the 2022 season we will again be playing in the various Softball Tournaments in Oxfordshire and will also have a team in the Home Counties Women's Cricket League (HCWCL). The HCWCL is an extended format of the softball game and played with a harder ball. Coaching sessions will be available to help learn the necessary skills when playing with the harder ball.
All women's matches are friendlies and played in the summer evenings or at weekends – so if you are interested in cricket, softball or hardball please feel free to come along and try the game, all abilities welcome, and no previous experience necessary.
