We are a section of 1st Eynsham Scout Group.
Beavers is for all young people ages 6-8. This means all genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your child’s physical ability – there’s a Beaver Scout adventure out there waiting for them. And we’ll help them find it.
See the slideshow below for an idea of what we do!
We fill spaces in the Beaver Colony from our waiting list . There are always young people waiting, so please don't expect to be offered a place immediately you enquire.
- Is your child less than six years old? Nobody is too young to join the waiting list, but they can't start at Beavers until they are six years old (and then have got to the top of the waiting list). So please feel free to go on the waiting list however young the child is now.
- Is your child currently six? Please join our waiting list and we will find a place for you as soon as we can (typically a term or two at present).
- Is your child seven? Unfortunately at the moment, it's not too likely they will get to the top of our waiting list in time to join. Please feel free to join the list in case we can find a place. You could also go on the waiting list for our Cubs pack, or use this tool to find other Beaver colonies nearby that might have space
- We do not normally accept young people who are older than 7 years 6 months when they enquire - please apply to join our Cub pack instead.
More about being a Beaver here.
Contact the Beaver Leader Chris Baker, for enquiries, and to join the waiting list:
- To add your child's name to our waiting list we need your child's first name, last name, and date of birth. We also need an email address to which we can send the invitation, and a contact phone number in case we can't reach you by email.
- We will confirm your child is on the waiting list, but then you won't normally hear from us until we can offer a place. That won't be until they are six, and it might not be until a term or two afterwards.
- Young people start at Beavers each school term (if we have spaces that term). We start sending out invitations about half a term in advance of the start date.
- We can't accurately predict or promise starting dates before a place is offered, unfortunately.
Scouting is run by adult volunteers. You can see more about volunteering for Scouting here. If you would like to get involved don't hesitate to contact Chris on the above link.
Scouts have been in Eynsham for more than 100 years. Our three ‘Sections’ are run by volunteers: we are the Beavers (ages 6-8). There is also our Cub pack (ages 8- 10½) and Scout Troop (ages 10½ - 14).
