Eynsham Country Market News

Spring time at ECM 10 Mar 2024 Eynsham Country Market are looking forward to a busy 2024 with plenty of special events planned.

The weather has certainly been challenging in the first months of trading for producers at Eynsham Country Market with our fair share of wet Thursday mornings.  However, our spirits are by no means dampened and we always strive to provide a wide range of locally produced food and crafts whatever the weather.  We are grateful to our loyal and determined customers who support us throughout the year.

We started off the year with our new season marmalade, made the traditional way without preservatives, which continues to be very popular.  Our Valentine’s market also drew many new customers who were eager to snap up our indulgent treats and bakes.

More recently our producers have been busy creating tempting delights for Mother’s Day on Thursday 7th March and our Easter Market on 28th March.  Easter produce includes simnel cakes, hot cross buns, Easter Chocolate Biscuit Treats, Easter Biscuits and iced ginger cookies as well as a large range of preserves, savouries, local eggs and honey.  If you can’t make it on a Thursday we also have a Saturday market in the Recreation Hall Long Hanborough on 23rd March from9.30am until 12pm.

Whilst our gardeners have struggled with soggy ground, they have still managed to provide pots of colourful daffodils and other flowering bulbs, leeks, spinach and beetroot.

Our craft producers have also spent the winter creating unique greetings cards, hand knitted baby clothes, traditional sewn children’s clothes, pottery, hairbands, scrunchies, book marks and much more.

2024 marks the 40th year of trading for ECM and we are marking the event with a special birthday market on Saturday 18th May from 9.30am until 12pm in the Square.  This market will be our ever-popular plant sale but crafts, baking and refreshments will also be available.  We are currently compiling a recipe book containing recipes from past and present producers.  It will be launched on 18th May with copies available to buy at the market or by contacting us via email at eynshamcountrymarket76@gmail.com.

Even though the weather outside might be awful, you are always sure of a warm welcome and a wide selection of produce every Thursday at Eynsham Country Market 9am until 10.30am.  So why not pop down and see what is new or come and pick up a leaflet with our calendar of events for 2024?
