First and Last Mile has run the local community bus to the villages north and south of Eynsham since the start of 2022. The popularity of the service has grown over time.
Especially popular has been the school run to Bartholomew School. Numbers have grown to the point that from September this service will be provided on a commercial basis by Pulhams Coaches, as FLM could not take 70 children to school in a couple of minibuses.
FLM has always been financially supported by Oxfordshire County Council but is too small to tender to run the services after August. If no other bus company steps forward it is possible that FLM will continue but this is too early to say.
When FLM started running there was no bus service in Stanton Harcourt or Bablock Hythe, for example. It has been an honour to help resurrect these routes and if someone else wants to take this forward we wish them well, if not we will try to find a way to continue to provide the service.
