After all the monsoon like rain over the last few days we were still able to enjoy the roll up on Tuesday afternoon. There was only some small areas of standing water on the cricket outfield. However from experience it usually takes 36-48 hours for the upstream flood waters to hit the courts.
Less than 24 hours later the complete cricket pitch, outfield and our courts were 12”underwater. Amazing the power of nature but also totally gutting when there’s nothing we can do.
At least our end of season maintenance (scarify, deeptine, reseed, fertilise, 4tons top dressing) had not started but will now be delayed.
Pity the cricket club who had only finished their reseeding and topdressing last week - all washed away, all lost to the floods.
