Another great day for Eynsham Croquet at Broadwas Croquet Club.
Edwin Bone narrowly missed the cut but came through as winner of the Consolation Plate in the Croquet England B Series (handicaps 3+) Edwin has already qualified for the National Finals in September.
In the C Series(handicaps 7+) 16 starters with 4 members from Eynsham (3 locals from Eynsham and 1 outsider from Ducklington!) entered the the National C Series at Broadwas. With 25% of the players from Eynsham, there was a good chance that we could come home with at least 1 placing!
In the end we came home with 4 placings! - brilliant result for Eynsham.
Chris Ogden, Pam Please, and Roger Booth (the outsider) progressed through their pools to the quarters and semis of the cup whilst Liza narrowly lost out but progressed to the Plate competition where she went on to win convincingly and thus defended her Plate title from last year.
In the main competition Roger beat Pam and Chris beat a local player to reach the final. The final was a decent scrap played over challenging lawns with Roger clawing back from 6-4 down to 6-6 and on to the golden hoop when Roger took advantage and ran out 7-6 as the winner.
