Moving around after COVID-19 3 Jun 2020 Some of us marvel at the way we have adapted so rapidly to massive change, like not using our cars for unnecessary journeys

How often have you heard recently friends and neighbours say they are amazed by the improvement in our air quality in Eynsham and surrounding countryside - how bright the sky is and how nature is thriving whilst we are locked down?  People are also saying they are enjoying being able to hear birds singing and that they are walking and cycling more. Some marvel at the way we have adapted so rapidly to massive change, like not using our cars for unnecessary journeys and working from home. They are also hoping and wondering if they can keep up their new behaviours and/or change their old ones after the pandemic is over.

GreenTEA (Transition Eynsham Area) has been concerned for over a decade to reduce our fossil fuel consumption as a community, for example, by cycling more, supporting the Botley-Eynsham cycle path and investigating car-sharing schemes. Now, GreenTEA think the time is right to find out with a QUICK SURVEY what transport behaviours we would be prepared to change, so our community can reduce air pollution and avoid respiratory diseases caused by particulates from petrol and diesel and carbon emissions. If we are, as a community prepared to change, then what help would we need and what infrastructure is necessary, like electric vehicle community charging stations and where should they go? Then we can put a case to our local councils in relation to their Climate Change policies.

Take care, all, in challenging times that also offer us amazing opportunities for transformative action!
