Choices, Choices 15 May 2020 Want a greener village? Would you like a face mask? A video? and more...

Sarah’s magazine pages are fuller than ever this time...

  • Check out Over to you for recipes and book reviews, a crossword, a local photo jigsaw and an NHS colouring corner; and OTY2 (yes, really) for updates on community projects.
  • Over to children is back, of course, with arts and crafts and more ways to let off steam.

Biodiversity

The Parish Council is consulting on more proposals for ‘greening’ the village, on the B4449 roundabouts and at Dovehouse Close: please respond by 28 May. Last month’s consultation on a new grass cutting regime for Hanborough, Oxford and Station Roads received 79 responses - scroll down to pages 6-7 for the comments.

Face masks

Would you like one? Would you like to make one? Could you make a batch for other people?

  1. Marta Biro uses 100% premium cotton in a patterns and colours to suit adults or children, or a plain blue fabric with initial / monogram embroidered on request. Also with pocket to insert a filter on request. Cost is £5 each, delivery within 10 miles. Samples in her FB album, email marthabiro@yahoo.co.uk or phone 07846 068076.
  2. If you care to dig out the sewing machine, there are styles to suit every taste. The official guide includes clear instructions on materials, home production, wearing and washing and is endorsed by Eynsham Medical Centre. Could you make a batch for them?
  3. The video below shows how to make a ‘filter-pocket’ version. Sarah says, ‘I'm quite proud of myself, having not touched a sewing machine for 30 years! Seven masks made for adults and matching masks and skirts for R and L :-)’
  4. Helen Gavin of Eynsham Repair Café is working on another version yet, in a range of sizes and with a nose bridge. If you’re interested in joining forces with her team of keen sewers that would be lovely - please email repaircafeeynsham@gmail.com or call 01865 285544.

Rubbish report

There will be queues when Dix Pit waste recycling centre reopens on 18 May! Please continue to minimise waste / recycling and hang on a while, if you can do so without risk to human health. WODC still collects bulky household waste for a modest charge.
