Did you miss it? 21 Sep 2015 (Eynsham Village Show) This year’s show saw brought the usual rush of entries to be judged and admired

This year’s show saw brought the usual rush of entries to be judged and admired on 19 September in the Village Hall and Scout HQ. With vegetable, fruit, floral, food and drink, craft, photography and children’s classes there really was something for everyone. During the afternoon we were treated to delicious tea and cake by Eynsham Country Market, so many thanks to all those who baked and served.

Judge Helen Peacocke says, “The standard of cakes, jams and pickles continues to rise. Difficult to choose a winner in some categories as they were all so good; and the sheep cupcakes were superb. Only disappointment was that only one “fellow” entered the men’s category - Macarons - which as we all know are exceedingly difficult to make. I learned later that the only entrant made several attempts before coming up with something he was satisfied with. They were delicious but there should have been more entrants. Perhaps next year we should give the men an easier category?”

Fay adds, “The committee had some fun with all the alcohol-related classes (oh, and I won one of them!!!) and Bram Hauer has put together the winners list in record time, he’s an absolute star! Next year perhaps I’ll ask the winners of the photography classes to send me digital versions so we can add them to the ‘official’ gallery too.”

Thanks to all our judges for giving up your time to make some very difficult decisions. The planning for next year will begin soon so get growing, sewing, baking and snapping! See you all next year ...
