The County Council wants to make getting around Eynsham and nearby villages easier, safer and more enjoyable. Following consultation in June 2025, they have drafted a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) to help achieve this.
Table 5 (page 56) has an impressive list of proposed improvements, including new cycleways to Botley and Hanborough. Improving cycling on Mill Street is listed as top priority. Traffic-free routes following existing bridleways to Freeland and Stanton Harcourt are also suggested, using “environmentally conscious unbound paving”.
The two background papers are seriously worth a read - links in the introductory page.
Consultation closes on Monday 27 October.
The final version of the plan will go through a process at County Hall to enable its formal adoption as council policy. This will help OCC bid for funding as it becomes available.
