As part of redevelopment of former older persons’ housing schemes in West Oxfordshire, Cottsway is planning to redevelop the Sunnyside scheme at the junction of Mill Street and Spareacre Lane to provide modern housing for people in need.
Cottsway says that it wants its homes to meet the high standards that its customers expect and deserve and Sunnyside, built in the mid-1960s with 15 x 1-bedroom flats and 1 x 3-bedroom house, was deemed to fall below this standard. Its priority has been customers living at Sunnyside and the housing association has been working closely with individuals to find them alternative accommodation that meets their needs, in preparation for the future redevelopment.
Cottsway considered a number of options before taking the decision to redevelop the site, and believes this is the best long-term solution as it will enable it to maximise the land available, meaning that more homes can be provided for more people in housing need, built to high standards.
Detailed proposals are being worked on and will be subject to planning consent from West Oxfordshire District. People will have the opportunity to comment through the planning process, but Cottsway will also be consulting with people living near Sunnyside.
Should a planning application be approved, Cottsway will appoint an external contractor to carry out building works on its behalf and will request that they keep the local community informed as things progress.
