Since our last news article in early October showing the results of flooding caused by Storm Ashley, we have had to postpone our end of season 3 times due to non stop flooding..
At last we completed the task on 22 November, when we scarified, deep-tined, reseeded then dropped 4 tons of topdressing. Members felt pretty pleased with all the physical effort and were looking forward to seeing the improvements over the next few months.
Unfortunately "Storm Bert" had other ideas. By Sunday night (only 2 days after finishing the EOS maintenance), we suffered the worst flooding on record. The water levels rocketed overnight and even the clubhouse was threatened despite being built on pillars 3feet high specifically as a flood defence.
All our EOS efforts have been washed away and we will need to start again next year after the ground has dried out.
Post script: This weekend we have suffered from Storm Darragh when winds of 60mph plus shook the clubhouse foundations; they survived! but more rain and more flooding.
