It has been another successful season for Eynsham Cricket Club. The 2nd XI (pictured) secured promotion by winning their league in a tight and exciting race. The 1st XI missed promotion by a small margin, and the friendly, women’s and junior sections continued to flourish.
These were the first successful steps in a longer-term plan to establish ECC as a club worthy of our fantastic playing facilities; the work of our amazing groundsman (and county all-rounder!), Gary Cook. Visit the club on any week during the summer and you can see cricket played through all the ages from 6 to17, women’s hard and soft ball cricket, men’s league matches on Saturdays and a full list of friendly matches played on midweek evenings and Sunday afternoons. Friday night junior training is the heartbeat of the club, providing a backdrop for families to enjoy the bar and BBQ on a weekly basis. It is the growth of the junior and women’s sections in the last few years that is enabling the club to grow in this way, with successes in winning age group leagues in both boys’ and girls’ sections at U13 and U11 age groups.
While there are exciting plans ahead to rebuild the cricket nets and enhance the facilities yet further, it is important to thank those that have made the club what it is today. The committee, the coaches and players play a huge part in keeping the club going, but a special mention should be made for our retiring Clubhouse Manager, Andrew ‘Frank’ Partlett. Since the completion of the new pavilion in 2014, Frank has managed it, and very much more. His contributions are hugely appreciated.
A number of sponsors have also backed the club most generously (their banners adorn the clubhouse). Particular thanks go to Lawrence Baker who provided a new electronic scoreboard in 2024 and Meech who continue to support the junior section, as well as to Ready, Steady Spice and to SAS Scaffolding.
In addition to new playing members of all ages, we welcome any new volunteers to help run the club. Junior coaching, umpiring, bar staff, ground assistance, tea-making and parent helpers; there is always plenty to do! For some specific roles, where we would welcome volunteer interest from anyone in the village or locality please see the link below for more information.

Come and join us at Eynsham CC for another great summer in 2025. If you want to get involved before then we are participating during the winter in both men’s and women’s indoor leagues, as well as indoor nets.
