Dear Fellow Villagers
Heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted for me at the District Council Elections last Thursday. I am very grateful for the trust you placed in me to promote our ward’s interests at the Council level.
The result of last Thursday’s vote was a positive step forward. In the three previous elections we were getting about an 8% share of the total vote- in 2024 this was rose to nearly 20%. This represents a great start in building back a strong Labour presence in Eynsham and Cassington. Clearly people responded to our message that there was no need to vote tactically – though I believe many still did.
Many thanks to all of you for your support, and especially to those who helped us with leafleting. We had great backing from our new Bicester and Woodstock Constituency Labour Party. Vernonica Oakeshott, our candidate for MP when the General Election is finally announced. She visited us many times and canvassed with us across the village. Overall, we managed to leaflet the whole village twice over and spoke to people on the doorstep in half of Eynsham. We also had an increased visibility with posters and signs, so thank you to all those who helped in this way.
The General Election will be our next challenge and we can build positively on what we have achieved so far – we have learnt so much about the issues you care about from our conversations on village doorsteps.
