End of year round-up 4 Jun 2019 (Rotary Club of Eynsham) See what your local Rotary Club has been up to in the last 12 months.

As we come to the end of the Rotary year and look back we find that we have had a very enjoyable and productive year 2018-2019.

Despite some comings and goings, our membership remains pretty stable and we feel that we are becoming a central pillar of the Eynsham community, contributing both physical and financial help with village projects and fun events - most of our fund raising events are actually fun and, with a good team of helpers contributing to each event, involve quite minimal effort from each of us. We’re always happy to welcome new members so if you are interested please do get in touch!

This year we held our popular Race Night in October and a Barn Dance in March. Both were well-attended, good fun and raised substantial amounts towards our annual charity budget.

We ran our annual Santa Sleigh tour visiting several local villages over 8 nights in December. This is such a popular event with local residents – whole families waiting in the chilly evening air to greet Santa and his reindeer to the strains of jolly Christmas music.

We helped and joined in with the 2018 Eynsham Carnival and this year we will be running a ‘Know Your Blood Pressure’ stall in conjunction with The Stroke Association. Come along and get yourself checked out.

We are lucky to have been able to help Edgbaston Rotary with their annual collection at the Swinford toll-bridge over the Christmas holiday and enjoy a share of the takings.

We also helped Eynsham Day Centre with their toll-bridge collection on the bank holiday and helped them raise a much needed £2000.

On the international front, good progress has been made with the second latrines project in Kilifi, Kenya. This project is supported by several local Rotary Clubs and a Global Grant. This year will see toilet blocks and hand washing facilities installed at two more schools in the district. We have also recently contributed to the latest 'Sand Dam' project in Kenya providing clean water for rural communities.

We look forward to continuing our support for local and International communities in 2019-2020.
