The statuesque old larch tree on Queens Lane was felled in early June 2018. It is not clear why it was felled, or how old the tree was, though one local remembers it as a mature specimen in the early 1960s.
Local resident and artist Jane Tomlinson said: ‘I admired this beautiful tree every day, and never failed to enjoy its distinctive zig zag branches which added real character to the lane. I’m very sad it has gone.’
