The date is an approximation based on a report by Don Chapman in June 1977, that the railway ‘was closed some years ago and its former route now forms part of the new road skirting the village’. Grateful thanks to David Hibberd for the additional information below
‘I came to live in Sutton in November 1977 and thenceforth cycled to Oxford nearly every day and never once saw the old railway bridge. This means it was demolished before 1977. My route was from Sutton to the site of the old level-crossing, then up the southern by-pass, which I understand followed the route of the railway line, to a junction where the current roundabout is connecting Oxford Road, the two by-pass roads and the road to the Toll Bridge. I never saw a bridge except the Toll Bridge.’
