Serving Eynsham since the 1860s, The Newlands Inn was a traditional pub with a great atmosphere and a warm welcome for all - closed in the wake of Lockdown Three in January 2021.
Lack of food never seemed to stop the punters, who readily transferred their loyalties to The White Hart along the road when Tracey and Ian Green reopened there on 12 April 2021.
An application (21/02896/FUL) to convert The Newlands to a residential dwelling met over 100 objections and was unanimously refused by the District planning sub-committee on 9 November 2021. Read the officers’ report. The Parish Council hoped to register it as an ‘Asset of Community Value’, to help safeguard its future as a pub. A further application made in March 2023 was refused in June; and dismissed on appeal on 30 September 2024.
